What does a website care plan include?

What you pay for each month after a site launches, and which plan fits an owner-run business.

A website care plan is the monthly fee that keeps a finished site running and current. At Third Gear Ventures, Care is $50 a month and covers hosting, security, monitoring, and backups, with no edits included. Care Plus is $250 a month and adds the updates a local business actually needs: menu, hours, events, and photo changes, small page changes, seasonal refreshes, and a monthly report.

The rest of this page explains what each plan covers, what neither one covers, and how to choose.

What Care covers, $50 a month

  • Hosting. The site is served fast, on a secure connection, without a separate hosting bill.
  • Security. What the site runs on is kept up to date, so it does not become the easy target.
  • Monitoring. If the site goes down, we find out and fix it, rather than a customer telling you.
  • Backups. The site can be put back the way it was if something goes wrong.
  • No edits. Changes on Care are quoted as they come up. If changes come up often, Care Plus is the cheaper way to get them.

What Care Plus adds, $250 a month

  • Updates handled for you. A new menu, holiday hours, an event, new photos. Send it over and it gets done, instead of sitting on your list.
  • Small changes. Adjustments to existing pages, like a new section, a changed offer, or an updated form.
  • Seasonal refreshes. The site keeps up with the season you are in, not the one you launched in.
  • A monthly report. How the site is found and used: search appearances, clicks, and visits, in plain language.

What a care plan does not cover

A care plan looks after the site you have. A redesign, or a new system behind the site such as online ordering, a booking system, or a customer portal, is a separate build with its own fixed price. When that system needs more than a website, it comes from the same team as our custom software.

Which plan fits

  • Care fits a site that rarely changes: a service business with steady hours, a fixed list of services, and no menu or events to keep current.
  • Care Plus fits anything with a menu, hours that shift with the season, events, specials, or new photos. That covers most restaurants, cafes, shops, and seasonal businesses, and it is the plan we recommend for most local businesses.

A simple test: if you would change something on the site more than once every couple of months, or you want to know each month whether the site is being found, Care Plus is the better fit than paying for changes one at a time.

Where this applies

The same plans and prices apply to businesses anywhere in the United States, including New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Chattanooga, Tennessee. See custom websites for the build packages, and custom website vs template if you are still deciding what kind of site you need.
